丛志远,南京艺术学院中国画系1980学士,1986硕士,美国印第安纳大学版画1994美术硕士。现任美国威廉帕特森大学版画系主任教授、中国艺术中心主任、全美华人美术教授协会主席。曾任美国印第安那波利斯艺术博物馆顾问、青海省博物馆顾问、南京艺术学院中国画系讲师。其作品先後在中国入选1974、84、85、86、2005年全国美术作品展览,及2012年伦敦奥林匹克美术展。个展包括联合国纽约总部、巴特勒美国艺术博物馆、印第安纳波利斯艺术博物馆等近30个个人作品展。作品和事迹亦被美国多家主要中英媒体、电视、广播和报纸报道,并作专题评论。其中包括纽约时报、新泽西 Star-Ledger 日报、人民日报、侨报、 世界日报、CNN、NJN和CCTV4等电视台。先后应邀在一百四十多所高校、博物馆举办艺术演讲,包括芝加哥艺术博物馆、普林斯顿大学和加州伯克莱大学。艺术项目曾获美国2012年第27届年度高等教育发展金奖、夏威夷东西中心艺术家居住奖、美国州际画展大赛1993绘画一等奖、中国美协“全国青年美术作品优秀奖”和2012新泽西“中美文化艺术大使奖”。
丛志远追求的是臻于生命自体来证明的艺术,力求在传统的基础上汲取大自然的灵感,表达自已的心声和意境, 把自己和自己的作品融为一体, 从而去创造出一个新的永恒。
Zhiyung Cong earned a BFA (1980) and an MFA (1986) in Chinese painting from Nanjing Arts Institute, and an MFA (1994) in printmaking from Indiana University. He is currently professor and Head of the Printmaking Program, Director of the Center for Chinese Art at William Paterson University, and the Chair of Chinese American art Faculty Association. His prior positions include consultant to the Indianapolis Museum of Art and Professor of Nanjing Arts Institute. Cong has been invited to give art demonstrations and lectures at more than 140 higher education institutions and museums including Chicago Art Institute and Princeton University. He has held near 30 solo exhibitions and over hundred group exhibitions, including those at United Nations, New York, The Olympic Fine Arts Exhibition 2012, London, and National Art Museum of China, Beijing. In addition, Cong has earned 2012 Gold Award in the 27th Annual Educational Advertising Awards for his project, The First-Place Award, The American States Arts Competition --1993 Exhibition for his work, Chinese Cultural Ambassador Award, New Jersey Chinese-American Chamber of Commerce, 2012 for his service. Cong has also received reviews of his work from The New York Times, The Star-Ledger, The Record, World Journal, Chinese News Net, People's Daily, NJN, BBC, CNN, and CCTV-4.
What Cong pursues is art confirmed by his own life. He endeavors to draw inspiration from nature on the basis of tradition, to express his inner self, to immerse himself into his works and to achieve a new equilibrium.
