陈放现任美国宾夕法尼亚州立大学(大学园校区)设计教授。他的作品参加了许多重要的国际展览并获奖,其主要奖项包括:法国第九届肖蒙海报节第一名、美国第十一届科罗拉多国际海报双年展最高奖、斯洛伐克第四届特尔纳瓦国际海报三年展大奖、第一届香港国际海报三年展金奖、第四届巴西利亚国际环境幽默艺术展第一名等。此外,陈放也是2003年特尔纳瓦三年展"大师眼奖"及2007年科罗拉多双年展"桂冠艺术家"得主 。

陈放的作品被法国巴黎国家图书馆、德国汉堡工艺美术博物馆以及美国纽约赫伯鲁巴林设计暨字体研究中心等永久收藏。他的作品也被诸多国际权威出版物发表,其中包括法国《当代艺术》和美国《传达艺术》杂志以及柯洛萨博士所著的《平面设计史》。2001年联合国教科文组织特别选择其海报作为《信使》杂志第9期封面。不仅如此,纽约出版的世界权威设计双月刊《图形》和《印刷》、东京《意念》、北京《中国摄影》、慕尼黑《新设计》、伦敦梅里尔公司出版的《世界平面设计》,以及美国洛克波特公司出版的《新海报设计大师》等也分别对陈放及其设计作专题介绍。陈放曾应邀出任肖蒙海报节、巴黎海报竞赛、科罗拉多海报双年展、墨西哥海报双年展以及特尔纳瓦海报三年展等国际大赛评审。

Fang Chen is a Professor of Graphic Design at The Pennsylvania State University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Graphic Design from Hubei Institute of Technology and received his MFA in Graphic Design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wuhan, China.

Chen’s work has been exhibited worldwide, and he has won numerous awards, including First Prize at the 9th Chaumont International Poster and Graphic Arts Festival of France, Top Prize at the 11th Colorado International Poster Biennale of USA, Grand Prix at the 4th Trnava International Poster Triennial of Slovak Republic, Gold Award at the 1st Hong Kong International Poster Triennial of China and First Place at the 4th Brasilia International Environmental Humor Show of Brazil. Other awards include the Golden Bee Award of the 5th Moscow International Biennale of Graphic Design, Distinctive Merit Award of the 2nd Tokyo Internet Graphic Design Competition, Co-Winner of 2007 Milan Good 50x70 International Social Communication Project, Second Prize of the 1st Szajna Multimedia Festival in Poland, Third Prize of the 12th Zilina Triennial EKOPLAGÁT 2011, and Third Prize of the 6th Tehran International Typography Poster Exhibition, etc.

In addition, in 2003, Chen received the prestigious Master’s Eye Award in Trnava Poster Triennial of Slovakia. In 2007, Chen was named as the Honor Laureate of the 15th Colorado International Poster Biennale of the United States for outstanding work in the poster medium. Chen has had laureate solo exhibitions in the 1999 Chaumont Poster and Graphic Arts Festival, the 2003 Trnava Poster Triennial and the 2007 Colorado International Poster Biennial. His work is in the permanent collections of the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris, Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, Hong Kong Heritage Museum and many others. His images have been published in hundreds of periodicals and books including Art Actuel, Graphic Design History and The UNESCO Courier, etc. Feature articles about Chen have appeared in World Graphic Design (Merrell publishers Ltd, London), New Masters of Poster 

Design (Rockport publishers Inc., MA), China Photography (Beijing), Idea (Tokyo), Novum (Munich), Print and Graphis (New York).
Chen has also served as a juror for many international graphic art competitions, such as the Chaumont Festival, the Colorado Biennale, the Mexico Biennale, the Ningbo Biennale, the Trnava Triennial and the Poster for Tomorrow at Paris.
